On the way to another night of music
· Daniel Baeder
When I arrived at Shinagawa Station, I noticed a large number of tourists. Surprisingly, though, the train itself wasn't particularly crowded.
During the journey, someone pressed the emergency button, and we were stopped for about ten minutes. These kinds of interruptions seem to have become quite frequent on my recent trips.

Despite these little unexpected moments, I'm feeling really good today. I have the privilege of playing with wonderful musicians who are also dear friends. This band gives me a deep sense of fulfillment as a drummer.

I truly hope that one day everyone will have the chance to come to one of our shows and experience the energy and intensity of this trio in person.

Today, I'm also meeting up with the trio's bassist, who is not only a musical partner but also a dear friend. We're going to sit down and discuss our plans, deciding together which direction we want to take the trio next year.

As I write these lines, I'm still on my way to meet the trio's bassist. The rain is delaying the Shinkansen, and there's even a possibility that services could be suspended. I don't yet know how the rest of the journey will unfold, but I hope to arrive in time.
When the rain erases the landscape
As I continue my journey on the Shinkansen, I witness something I've never seen before. The rain is so intense that I can barely see anything outside.
Through the window, the view disappears behind the rain. I decided to capture a few seconds on video, because I'd never experienced anything like this on a train journey.
Video: the intense rain seen from inside the Shinkansen.
Soundcheck
Soundcheck was incredible. We tried out new arrangements, and once again I felt how the music comes alive when we play together.

A break before the show
Now we're together at a shabu-shabu restaurant, enjoying the food and conversation as we get ready for the show. After the unexpected moments on the journey, it feels good to share this time with friends and fellow musicians.
